Our Story
YHD was born in 2013 in Newcastle by Creative Director, Zoe Pohlmann. After studying Architecture, she felt disconnected from the everyday client and from there she branched into building design. Zoe has worked alongside many builders, architects, interior & building designers in a range of workplaces learning a range of skills and design styles along the way.
Practising what she preaches, Zoe has created 8 beautiful homes with her partner, Tyson (who is also a licenced builder - handy! From Nelson Bay, Anna Bay, Corlette and Mayfield to the other side of Aus in Darwin, she's done it all! After their first reno & extension in Newcastle, Zoe moved to Darwin where she learned the importance of energy efficiency and passive, tropical design benefits, building her first new home. Next project on the ranks was an investment; a new build in a new estate (The Vantage House).
Project number 3, 4 & 5 was a 3 lot subdivision with 3 individually designed, split level designed town houses (Bellmount Subdivision). Wanting to get a taste of the holiday rental market, The Loft Corlette was created, a renovation of an old townhouse - now a high-end, luxe beach retreat which many guests still enjoy to this day. Last but not least, (so far!) is Organica, Zoe & Tyson's dream home & our YHD Studio/Office. This home is one of Zoe's biggest achievement's, and is always showing our clients through this boutique build, proud of the work completed!

Zoe has now created a team of passionate individuals who guide our clients throughout the process, all whom have the same professional ethos as Zoe; highly career driven, motivated & professional. The team takes pride in being extremely approachable & friendly, and don't mind having a bit of a laugh along the way!
